PRAYERS FOR OUR LAND OF RESIDENCE

Thank God for locating us in the land of Ibadan, Oyo State to live and to work. Appreciate the Lord for blessing us with peace in the land. Thank Him for the progress & prosperity that He has granted us to witness in the past years.

Ask for God’s mercy upon our land for all the defilements, idolatry and wickedness in the land. Plead the blood of Jesus upon all the nook and cranny of the land, upon every mountain, valley, plain where evil altars are built to offer sacrifices unto demons and devils. Throw down every altar that is responsible for the backwardness, retrogression, and lack of progress that has plagued the land of Oyo State and held it back from living up to its name as the Pacesetter State. (2 Chronicle 7:14, Jer. 30:18)

Ask God to continually enable us to seek the peace and prosperity of this city wherein He has caused us to live and work, declare that we shall not cease to pray unto the LORD for our land and city: for in the peace thereof shall we have peace. Come against every form of lethargy and lack of interest in the affairs of our land of residence. Ask God to give us a fresh sense of belonging and responsibility for the developments in our city. (Jeremiah 29:7).

Enforce the reign of righteousness, peace, and joy in Oyo State. Declare that the kingdom of God comes and His will is done in every facet of our society i.e. Politics, Economy, Education, Religion etc. Pray for a fresh enablement of God’s Spirit upon us as the people of God to take charge and to occupy the land for His glory unto the coming of Christ (Matt. 6:10, Luke 19:13)

Come against every plan, agenda, conspiracy, and intent aimed at causing crisis and unrest in our land. Ask that the Lord will expose every scheme and secret plan of the enemy to trouble the peace of our land or to cause a religious or ethnic crisis or violence. Rebuke the company of spearmen, the multitude of the bulls, with the calves of the people, till every one submit himself with pieces of silver: scatter all the people that delight in war. (2 Kings 6:8, Psalms 68:30)

Decree that we shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places. Pray that nothing will displace us from our homes, offices or places of worship, we shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be our rearguard. (Isaiah 32:18, Isaiah 52:12)

Let’s lift up our voice to ask God to douse and put out the protest by the Muslims for the use of hijab (head & neck covering material) by the female students of the International School, University of Ibadan. Pray that it will not be a springboard for any religious crisis to engulf the university community and indeed the whole of Ibadan or Oyo State. Speak calmness and restoration of peace to the school. Pray that normal academic work, which has been disrupted, will be restored to the school. Put the spirit of violence to flight. (Lev 26:6,7, Deut. 28:7)

Break the stronghold of the spirit of Islam over Oyo State and decree that the veil of religion be removed from the eyes of the people. Ask that there God will save and cause as many of those held under the bondage of Islam to come unto the glorious liberty of the children of God (I Tim 2:4 Rom 8:21)

Thank God for answering our prayers and declare that our peace and prosperity is secured in the land of Oyo State.
